State Animal Husbandry Dept launches ‘MahaVetNet’ app

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The State Animal Husbandry Department launched an android-based mobile application ‘MahaVetNet’ recently. It is a digital platform that helps in connecting veterinarians and farmers.

Around 4,000 veterinarians and 19,000 farmers from the State have registered on this application.

The State Animal Husbandry Department is also planning to provide training to farmers and veterinarians to use this application.

“MahaVetNet application will help officers in guiding farmers in case of any disease and farmers can easily upload the history of animals. There are veterinarians on the platform who can help them by providing an immediate solution. It will help us to keep a check and it will be easier for farmers to report directly the issues,” said Laxminarayan Mishra, Commissioner, State Animal Husbandry Department.

He added, “Till now, we have 19,000 farmers registered on the platform and 4,000 veterinarians (government doctors) are part of the application. There is a section in this application called ‘Pashu Palak Katta’ where farmers can put their queries which will be addressed by doctors and their success stories, which can be disseminated among others.”

He said those facing problems in using the application will be given training.
