Std XI CAP form part 2 allows change in stream

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The students applying for admission to Std XI through online Centralised Admission Process (CAP) will now be able to change their stream while filling part 2 of the application form.

Part 2 is filled after the results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination are out, where the students have to give the preference list of colleges.

Taking into consideration the confusion that the students face while choosing stream for Std XI, the government, in a new GR released to re-assert the procedure of application, has added this clause.

Part 1 of the form is usually filled by the students soon after the SSC examinations, wherein they fill in their personal details like name, address, category, etc. The marks and list of colleges are added after the result. However, only one stream can be selected per application.

Also, the students who have taken admission for Polytechnic or ITI will be given an option of ‘withdrawal of application’ so that the names of these students go out of the CAP system. Otherwise, the names of these students keep repeating in the merits lists, which prolongs the whole process of admissions.

Most of the other rules too remain the same. The round of applications will begin with a ‘zero round’ for the students opting for bifocal courses. There will be three regular rounds of merit-based admissions, which will be followed by a special round. The first-come-first-served (FCFS) round, which has been quite popular, will be held this year as well, at the end.

The students who wish to cancel the admission that they have already taken and re-enter the process, changing the college or stream can do so in the FCFS round.

Along with the regular reservation categories, 16 per cent reservation for SEBC and 10 per cent for EWS will also be added this time.
