Pune, 8th December 2025: An IndiGo aircraft suffering from a technical fault has been parked on a parking bay at Pune Airport for the past four days, leading to operational challenges.
With air traffic expected to increase in the coming days, airport authorities fear that the blocked parking bay could cause further inconvenience to passengers and airline operations.
Pune, along with several other cities across the country, continues to face major disruption in IndiGo’s flight services. On Sunday alone, as many as 50 flights were cancelled at Pune Airport, many of them operated by IndiGo.
While 64 IndiGo flights and 42 flights from other airlines managed to operate during the day, the disruptions remained severe. An additional 18 flights have been cancelled for December 8.
Due to the uncertainty in flight schedules, many passengers have avoided air travel, leading to a sharp drop in footfall at the airport. On Sunday, only around 7,000 passengers travelled through Pune Airport, a significant decline compared to normal days.
To support stranded passengers, the Pune Railway Administration has set up a 24-hour help desk inside the airport premises. The help desk is providing information about trains departing from Pune, enabling passengers to switch to rail travel when flights are cancelled.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said that the IndiGo aircraft remains grounded due to a technical issue and the timeline for its removal is currently uncertain. He added that passenger facilities have been enhanced and all airport teams are working together to ensure that airport operations remain safe, smooth and comfortable during the ongoing disruption.
