Pune: The coastal state, Goa witnesses a high number of tourists during the summer vacations. Thus, to cater to rising demand, Puneties can now fly to Goa six days a week. If you want to travel to Goa? There are six flights in a week from Pune to Goa and the service begin on March 28.

The decision comes after Goa witnessing a rising number of tourists from Pune and other cities ahead of the Summer vacation. The Summer schedule of airlines have already started but one must note that Pune airport will remain shut between April 26 and May 9 due to maintenance work of the runway here. The spurt in COVID-19 cases in pockets of India has done little to dull the travel bug that has bitten many, particularly those keen on travelling to Goa.

According to various reports, most of the flights and passengers travelling to Goa are from metro cities of the country. Despite the surge in cases, airlines continue to remain upbeat about Goa as a favourite spot. With international travel banned, popular tourist destinations remain out of reach for many thus making Goa, the best possible destination.

Apart from Goa, Pune airport will have new direct flights to Darbhanga, Gwalior, Durgapur Jabalpur, Kochi and Varanasi. The flight to Darbhanga from Pune will operate six days a week while people can now travel Durgapur and Gwalior thrice a week. Also, the Pune-Jabalpur flight will operate twice a week while flights to Kochi will operate daily.

One must note that as per guidelines by the government, passengers travelling Maharashtra from Goa via flights must get tested 72 hours before their time of departure. Carrying the test results is compulsory at both airports. Failing to do so will result in the management screening you at airports. Passengers with COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to take the antigen test and those who test positive will be admitted to the hospital. However, the expenses for the same will be the patients’ responsibility.
