Tekawade murder case: Top cop asked to probe role of ex-ACP, SPI

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Mumbai High Court has ordered the Pune police commissioner to conduct an enquiry into the role of the then Pimpri division ACP Mohan Vidhate and then Pimpri police station in-charge senior police inspector SA Mujawar in connection with the murder of NCP corporator Avinash Tekawade.

Tekawade (42) was attacked with sharp weapons at his rented accommodation in Mohan Nagar, Pimpri, on September 3, 2015. The police had arrested Babu alias Suryodya Shekhar Shetty in connection with the murder. However, he moved the HC stating that he has been been implicated in the case by the police under pressure from local politicians.

A bench of Justice RM Sawant and Justice Revati More-Dere ordered the police commissioner to conduct an enquiry against Vidhate (now retired) and Mujawar. The enquiry report has to be submitted by July 11.
