Pune: On the occasion of World Radio Day (February 13), Punekars witnessed treasure of vintage radio. Various old and rare models were displayed at Muktangan Science Exploratery Center, Model Colony by old radio collector Shripad Kulkarni.

Radio models from 60-70's to current era were presented. Approximately, 45-50 models were exhibited. February 13 was chosen as the day to celebrate the medium be because on this day, the UN radio was set up in 1946.

A radio festival was jointly organized by Marathi Vigyan Parishad, Amateur Radio License Holders, Muktangan Science Exploratory Center, Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers, Padmini Electronics at Muktangan Science Exploratory Center in Model Colony. Meanwhile, Shrirang Gokhale inaugurated the exhibition.

In this radio festival, along with radio exhibition, lectures by experts, a quiz competition on the radio were organised. Deputy Director from All India Radio, Chitrarekha Kulkarni gave a presentation on All India Radio's new broadcasting technology 'DRM'.

Ham Vilas Rabade, Vishwas Kale, Dr Vishwas Udpikar, Dilip Bapat and other expertise delivered on various topics such as 'Radio: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow', 'Design and Development of SDR Radio', 'Listening to Radio is My Hobby'. Anant Bhide, Director of Muktangan Science Exploratory Centre, Rajendra Kumar Saraf, President of Marathi Vigyan Parishad were present too.
