Pune, 1st February 2026: Despite recording the coldest December in a decade, Pune’s winter season has ended sooner than expected. Data from Shivajinagar shows that January 2026 had an average minimum temperature of 13.6°C, making it the third-highest January night temperature recorded since 2014.
At the same time, daytime temperatures remained relatively mild. The average maximum temperature in January stood at 29.85°C, the lowest January average after 2022, indicating cooler days even as nights stayed warmer.
According to weather experts, winter conditions in Pune are now over. Minimum temperatures are expected to rise by around 2°C between February 2 and 4, while maximum temperatures are likely to increase after February 5.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecast above-normal day and night temperatures across most parts of the country in February 2026. For Maharashtra, IMD expects temperatures to remain higher than usual throughout the month, signaling an early transition towards warmer conditions.
