Interestingly, the woman herself had lodged the child’s kidnapping FIR with Hadapsar police station on April 28. She had claimed that her son was kidnapped from outside their house in Shewalwadi area, by unidentified persons in an SUV same day in the afternoon. Based on information about the vehicle, police arrested Abhijit Kad (33), a resident of Kadvasti in Haveli, who confessed to having kidnapped the boy on the instructions of two women, one of whom is the mother of the kidnapped boy.

According to police, the woman told police that the kidnapped boy was from her second marriage. Her husband had married another woman. Hence, she demanded Rs 15 lakh from him and also the child’s custody. This led to the dispute between them and the woman staged the kidnapping of the child to extort money, police said.
