Pune: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the government will soon come up with new development rules for the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a new SRA office in Shivajinagar on Saturday.
The minister also criticised the way SPPU flyover was built and pointed out that talks are in progress with PMRDA and Tata to demolish the flyover and reconstruct a two-level flyover at the same spot for better connectivity.
“The government is bound to provide quality homes under the SRA scheme and the authorities should take the responsibility of speedy completion of the work,” Pawar said. The minister assured that the government will see to it that the funds for large infrastructure projects would be provided on a timely basis to avoid delay in such projects.
Pawar was also disappointed with the rent amounting to Rs 12 lakh per month, which will be paid by SRA to PMC for the office. Neelam Gorhe, deputy Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC), who was present at the event, said that developers should come forward to build SRA projects. Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, who was also present at the event, assured that the government will soon take meetings to solve the issues of SRA and pending projects under SRA.
“We will soon approve houses under SRA up to 300 sq ft and the height of these buildings can be raised to 100 metres,” added Awhad.
Pune Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar and Chief Executive Officer of SRA Rajendra Nimbalkar were present for the inauguration.
