PUNE: Dr Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Aundh, stunnned Loyola High School, Pashan Road, to win the boys football trophy in a final that went down to the wire at Dhruv Global School, Lavale, during the Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics in Pune, on Wednesday.
Ishaan Dhulugade’s 7th minute goal for Loyola High School found an equalizer from Vishesh Bhandare just four minutes later for Dr Kalmadi Shamrao High School. The match eventually went into a penalty-shootout where goals from Abhinandan Gaikwad, Sanket Sawant, Vishesh Bhandare, and Arjun Deshmukh saw Kalmadi Shamrao through, as Loyola managed to score just twice.
In the third place match that happened earlier, JN Petit Technical High School, Bund Garden Road, won by a solitary goal against Ses Gurukul, University Road, to bag the bronze medal.
In the girls final, Angel Mickey Minie School, Hadapsar continued their fine run as in-form Piyusha Narke’s brace gave them the gold medal as they beat Millennium National School who settled for silver.
Amanora School, Hadapsar earned the bronze medal, beating Vidya Bhavan High School And Jr College, Model Colony, in the playoff for the third place.
