In a good news to Indian cricket team ahead of the beginning of the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia Rohit Sharma has passed a fitness test. India's opening batsman underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The star batsman will leave for Australia on December 14.

Rohit had suffered a hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

India already will be without skipper Virat Kohli after the first Test end in Adelaide after he was given a paternity leave. The news of Rohit Sharma regaining full fitness will surely be a major boost for the Indian camp in Australia.

Rohit Sharma will go into quarantine after reaching Australia and it is unclear how long he will stay in isolation before he is permitted to join the rest of the squad.

India will play against Australia in the first Test on December 17.
