India vs Australia: Rohit Sharma to play Sydney Test; India announces playing XI

Test Captain Ajinkya Rahane confirmed that Rohit Sharma will play the Sydney Test and will also open the batting

India skipper Ajinkya Rahane declared on Wednesday that Rohit Sharma will open the innings in the Sydney Test against Australia starting from Thursday.

Rohit Sharma was added to the squad for the last two Tests after he finished his quarantine and was named as Vice-Captain. Also, Navdeep Saini will make his debut in white jersey in the place of injured Umesh Yadav. India also announced the playing XI on Wednesday for the Sydney Test

The Border-Gavaskar Series is poised at 1-1 with both teams still to play two more Tests.

India XI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravidndra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini.
