IPL 2026 auction updates: 1st set of Batters, All-Rounders, Wicket Keepers

Out of the 20 players that have gone under the hammer in this opening session of the auction, thirteen have ended up in the unsold bag.

Batters:

  • David Miller: Delhi Capitals get hold of David Miller at his base price of ₹2 crore.

  • Cameron Green: A competitive bidding battle took place among Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Rajasthan Royals for Cameron Green. Following this contest between CSK and KKR, Green was acquired by KKR for ₹25.20 crore.

All Rounders:

  • Wanindu Hasaranga: Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a base price of ₹2 crore.

  • Venkatesh Iyer: Venkatesh Iyer's auction began with a base price of ₹2 crore. A bidding contest ensued between LSG and Gujarat Titans. RCB joined the competition at ₹3 crore, and when the bid reached ₹7 crore, KKR withdrew, allowing Royal Challengers Bengaluru to acquire Venkatesh Iyer.

Wicketkeepers:

  • Quinton de Kock: Mumbai Indians got hold of South African Quinton de Kock at the base price of ₹1 crore.

  • Ben Duckett: Delhi Capitals gets Ben Duckett at a base price of ₹2 crore.

  • Finn Allen: Kolkata Knight Riders bag another, this time the Kiwi for his base price of ₹2 crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders shattered auction records by securing Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a staggering Rs 25.20 crore after an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings, surpassing the previous overseas record held by Mitchell Starc.

While Green’s acquisition headlined the event, the auction also saw surprising snubs for Indian batters Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who went unsold despite Sarfaraz's recent domestic form. In other significant moves, Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 7 crore.
