Pandit and Kulkarni continue good run

Pune: Top seed Neha Pandit of Pune and second seed Vaishnavi Bhale of Nagpur rallied to hard-fought wins to storm in the women’s singles semi-finals, in the Khar Gymkhana-MBA Senior Inter District & Senior Open State Badminton Championship on Saturday.

Pandit recovered from the loss of a tight opening set to romp to a 19-21, 21-14, 21-9 win over compatriot Mudra Dhainje.
Meanwhile, top seed Kaushal Dharmamer of Mumbai Suburban and second seed Abhishek Kulkarni of Pune cruised into the men’s singles quarter-finals. Results: 

Women: 
Quarter-finals: Neha Pandit (Pune) bt Mudra Dhainje (Pune) 19-21, 21-14, 21-9;  Riya Pillai (Mumbai Suburban) bt Shruti Mundada (Pune) 21-10, 21-17; Revati Devasthale (Pune) bt Mrunmayee Deshpande (Thane) 21-8, 21-12; Vaishnavi Bhale (Nagpur) bt Vaishnavi Iyer (Mumbai Suburban) 24-22, 21-15.

Men:
Pre-Quarter-finals: Kaushal Dharmamer (Mumbai Suburban) bt Vineet Kamble (Pune) 21-4, 21-17; Sushrut Karmarkar (Mumbai Suburban) bt Amey Joshi (Mumbai Suburban) 21-10, 21-15; Rishabh Deshpande (Pune) bt Adheep Gupta (Nashik) 21-9, 21-18.
