Mumbai: India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was hospitalised on Friday ‘as a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice’ one week after he was tested positive the novel coronavirus.

Taking to Twitter, he said, “Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win.”

The batting legend recently had participated in the Road Safety World Series, in Raipur where he lead the team to lift the trophy by scoring two 50s in the tournament. Apart from Sachin, India Legends players Subramanium Badrinath, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan also had tested positive for the COVID-19.

On March 27, Tendulkar had declared that he had tested positive for the contagion after showing mild symptoms. At that time, he had stated that he was in home quarantine. He had informed that all his family members had tested negative. He had said, "I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I've tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative.

This comes at a time when the country and especially Sachin's hometown Mumbai, is reporting a second wave of contagion. As soon as the news broke out, Sachin's fans took Twitter wishing speedy recovery to the Master Blaster.
