Saie, Vaishnavi register win

Pune: Saie Nandurkar from Nashik defeated Divya Jha from Mumbai Suburbs 21-6, 21-12 in the Girls Singles category on the first day of the Maharashtra Junior (U-19) State Selection Tournament which commenced at the Modern Sports Complex on Monday.

In other matches, Pune’s Vaishnavi Pise beat Osmanabad’s Neha Ahirwal 21-17, 21-15 while Kolhapur’s Ankita Murgude beat Pune’s Saie Jadhav 21-16, 21-15 in a 27 minute encounter.

Later Pune girl, Shatakshi Kinikar got past Thane’s Ananya Goel 21-8, 21-8 in a match which lasted for 16 minutes. In other action, Nagpur’s Nivedita Vinod beat Solapur’s Vedshri Bandewar 21-11, 16-21, 21-15 in a 26 minute match. 

Meanwhile Pune’s Saniya Tapkir got past Mumbai Suburbs player Vaidehi Mohite as the score read 21-11, 21-11.
