Indian cricketers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have held on to their coveted number one spots in the latest ICC rankings for ODI and T20I batters, respectively. The update, released on Wednesday, solidifies India’s dominance in the batting charts across both limited-overs formats.
Gill remains at the top of the ODI list with 784 points, continuing his impressive form in the 50-over format. Shreyas Iyer is the only other Indian batter in the top 10, holding steady at the sixth position. This comes despite the Indian men's team not having played an ODI match since their Champions Trophy victory against New Zealand earlier this year.
In the T20I rankings, the top spots are a clean sweep for India. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma are at number one and two respectively, showcasing the country’s young talent pool. Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is ranked sixth, while Yashasvi Jaiswal rounds out the top 10 at the tenth spot. The T20I team's last outing was a successful 4-1 series win against England.
While Indian batters are flying high, the bowlers have seen some movement. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has slipped to third place in the ODI bowler rankings. South Africa's Keshav Maharaj has reclaimed the top spot after a standout performance where he took five wickets for just 33 runs against Australia, earning him the Player of the Match award. Maharaj had briefly held the number one position late last year and has now leapfrogged both Kuldeep and Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana.
In other bowling rankings, Ravindra Jadeja is the only other Indian in the top 10 for ODIs. In the T20I format, Varun Chakaravarthy remains at fourth place, with Ravi Bishnoi at seventh and Arshdeep Singh slipping one spot to tenth.
