Pune: Aspiration can make people do farfetched stuff which at times can leave others in respect and also serve as a motivation to thousands, such is tale of The Hope Monk, Salwat Hamrah.

Meet Salwat Hamrah who is on a cycling voyage from Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) to raise funds for underprivileged children who aim of joining sports. Through his 4,500 km long expedition, his mission is to raise money to fund the education and sports training of a group of talented and high-potential kids from lower economic backgrounds.

These kids are currently studying at The Wonder School in Pune under the care of The Potter’s Earth Foundation. As a part of their inclusive policy, they support a few children every year to further their talents and providing high-quality education to children who may not have the financial means to afford it. The school follows the Finnish education style of collaborative teaching. The teachers are also globally trained and bring international practices of teaching to the classroom, helping children excel dynamically.

Commenting on his adventure, Salwat says, “I just wanted to have fun and experience our country, its people, and cultures in a whole new light. I have always loved to test my endurance. So, I decided to cycle from Kashmir to Kanyakumari through the west coast. The whole adventure carried on a whole new meaning when I took the responsibility to raise funds for the education of very talented underprivileged children at The Wonder School, Pune”.

Salwat's ride of 4,523 km covers 10 Indian states and 2 Union Territories. All proceeds from this mission will contribute to the College Education, Professional Training and Sports Equipment for these children. His objective behind 'Hope Monk - K2K' is to live the pure joy of cycling while pushing his mental and physical limits and giving back to society.

A spokesperson from The Wonder School shared, “We believe that access to world-class education should not be limited to only those who can afford it. But it should be provided to all children who want it”.

Hope Monk is an entrepreneur from Srinagar and co-founder of Bangalore-based outdoor adventure company 'Get Beyond Limits.' He is a yoga teacher and an endurance athlete who passionately believes that cycling is key to ensuring a life of sustainability, abundance and excellence.
