Amazon, the Seattle-based tech, e-commerce, and cloud computing giant, on Monday unveiled its second-largest corporate office in Asia at Kattigenahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru, underscoring how Bengaluru is emerging as a key hub for tech, talent, and innovation in Asia.
According to the company, the campus, which spans approximately five acres, will accommodate more than 7,000 employees working in e-commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services throughout India.
This facility ranks as Amazon's second-largest standalone corporate office worldwide, with its Hyderabad location being the largest in Asia. The campus is crafted to unite teams on a large scale, emphasizing collaboration, adaptability, education, and employee wellness. The workspace includes self-contained neighborhoods equipped with meeting rooms, huddle areas, breakout zones, and event spaces that can accommodate over 200 individuals.
Employees at Amazon’s new Bengaluru campus will enjoy a range of modern amenities designed for work, leisure, and community engagement:
Recreation facilities including basketball and pickleball courts
An amphitheatre for events and gatherings
Landscaped lawns and outdoor community spaces for relaxation and informal meetups
Two floors of cafeterias offering a variety of global cuisines
Speaking at the innaugration, David Zapolsky, senior vice-president of global affairs and legal officer at Amazon, noted that India’s pace of technology adoption and AI ambitions are unlike any other country. “There’s a growth orientation here that is unmistakable, bold, forward-looking, and optimistic,” Mr. Zapolsky said.
“Large-scale campuses like this create more jobs, strengthen the local ecosystem, and support India’s digital economy. We welcome all investments that build long-term capability and create opportunity for our workforce,” Minister for Large & Medium Industries M.B. Patil added, speaking at the inauguration.
