AMD India has awarded a CSR grant to AAGYAVISION, an innovative startup focused on advanced imaging and sensing technologies. The grant, announced on June 26, 2025, is part of AMD’s ongoing collaboration with the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and aims to strengthen the country’s capabilities in semiconductor design and artificial intelligence.
AAGYAVISION is a deep-tech startup incubated at FSID, IISc, and is developing a full-stack radar solution that integrates custom-designed chips, radar hardware, and AI-powered software algorithms. The technology leverages Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar, which offers high-resolution imaging, multi-frequency operations, and the ability to function in all-weather and low-light conditions. This makes it particularly suitable for applications such as:
Civilian security and surveillance
6G sensor networks
Smart infrastructure
Edge sensing and computing
The company’s radar-on-chip solution is designed for real-time control and signal analysis, enabling cost-effective, low-power, and high-precision edge sensing; key requirements for the next generation of smart cities and connected devices.
The grant will accelerate AAGYAVISION’s R&D and commercialization efforts, building on more than seven years of research at IISc. The startup will also benefit from mentorship by AMD experts in edge computing and semiconductor systems, further enhancing its technological capabilities and go-to-market strategy.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader semiconductor mission, which aims to position the country as a global hub for electronic design and manufacturing. Professor B. Gurumoorthy, Director of FSID, highlighted the importance of such collaborations: “India is building a world-class semiconductor ecosystem, driving advancements in electronic design and manufacturing. AAGYAVISION’s radar and AI solutions are set to play a pivotal role in the evolution of India’s smart infrastructure, security systems, and future 6G networks.
