A fake viral message regarding e-commerce company Amazon is doing rounds the rounds on messaging app WhatsApp, promising gifts to users on its 30th anniversary.

The message says that Amazon 30th anniversary celebrations – Free gifts for everyone from with a fake URL - www.amazon.com https://govspourt.buzz/amazon/tb.php?v=ss1616487

Once you click on the link, you will be directed to what looks like an Amazon page. On the page, you may find a text saying congratulation and with a more elaborated message explaining that Amazon is giving gifts like Huawei Mate 40 Pro 5G Full Netcom 8GB + 256GB (bright black) to hundred random users. to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

It even asks users to take a survey in which person has to take four questions-- on gender, age, quality of Amazon service, and the smartphone platform that the person is using.

However, the message is fake and is designed to trick users. Amazon has also confirmed the reality of this viral message, saying that the URL is fake and warned people to stay away from it, reported NewsMeter.

Such messages usually try this strategy to steal the information of users and hack their electronic devices. It can also be used to defraud you or for identity theft.

This is not the first time people are receiving such fake messages on WhatsApp. The messaging app is prone to such fake claims and millions of users around the globe have been tricked into it. The same thing happened in the past when similar messages were doing the rounds on WhatsApp.

If you come across any such claims on WhatsApp, which are suspicious, do not click on the link. Always check the language of the message and the URL of the link properly.
