The Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate the adoption of green energy solutions across the sector. This collaboration marks a bold step towards reducing the industry’s carbon footprint, promoting renewable energy, and setting new standards for environmental sustainability in one of the world’s fastest-growing digital economies.

The Indian telecom sector, with its vast network of towers and data centers, is a significant consumer of energy—much of it still derived from fossil fuels. Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable practices, DIPA and Vodafone Idea have outlined a comprehensive roadmap to integrate renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hybrid systems into telecom infrastructure nationwide.

DIPA, representing India’s leading digital infrastructure providers, and Vodafone Idea, one of the country’s top telecom operators, are leveraging their combined expertise and resources to drive systemic change. The partnership is also aligned with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, with a strong focus on transparency, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Akash Das, Chairman of DIPA, commented, “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to a sustainable digital future. By combining our strengths, we can accelerate the transition to green energy and set an example for the global telecom industry.”

Ravinder Takkar, CEO of Vodafone Idea, added, “Sustainability is at the core of our business strategy. Through this collaboration, we aim to not only reduce our carbon footprint but also empower communities and contribute to India’s green growth story.”

The alliance comes at a time when the Indian government is ramping up efforts to promote renewable energy and achieve ambitious climate targets. Initiatives such as the National Solar Mission and incentives for green infrastructure are creating a favorable policy environment for telecom companies to invest in clean energy.

DIPA and Vodafone Idea have pledged to work closely with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders to scale up green energy adoption and ensure long-term sustainability.
