EU Finally Gets Access to Anthropic's Mythos AI, Which Discovered 10,000 Zero-Day Vulnerabilities

The AI model has been credited with uncovering more than 10,000 critical software vulnerabilities and was previously restricted to a select group of cybersecurity partners.

The European Union is set to gain access to Mythos, Anthropic's most advanced artificial intelligence model, following months of discussions between the European Commission, the company, and US authorities.

According to CNBC, the European Commission confirmed it had held several "productive meetings" with Anthropic regarding future access to the model. The development comes after the EU repeatedly sought access to Mythos, which has so far been restricted to a limited group of partners under Anthropic's cybersecurity-focused Project Glasswing programme.

EU technology sovereignty spokesperson Thomas Regnier welcomed the move, describing access to advanced AI systems as a shared challenge that requires cooperation between governments and industry.

Why Mythos Has Drawn Attention

Anthropic has kept Mythos largely out of public hands due to concerns over its cybersecurity capabilities. The company says the model can identify and exploit software vulnerabilities at a level comparable to, or beyond, many human security researchers.

In a recent update, Anthropic said Mythos helped around 50 partner organisations discover more than 10,000 high- and critical-severity vulnerabilities across widely used software systems. The model was also used to scan over 1,000 open-source projects, uncovering thousands of potential security flaws.

The AI reportedly identified vulnerabilities in major operating systems and web browsers, while Mozilla said it used Mythos to find and fix 271 vulnerabilities in Firefox, significantly more than previous testing methods.

The EU already secured access to OpenAI's GPT-5.5 Cyber model earlier this year and has been pushing for access to leading AI cybersecurity systems as concerns grow over both the risks and benefits of increasingly powerful AI tools.
