On Wednesday, Google launched Gemini Spark in India, a 24/7 personalised artificial intelligence (AI)-driven agent, extending the reach of its task automation capability just weeks after its global rollout. The tool is built to help users automate complex, multi-step tasks across Google’s services, advancing beyond conventional chatbot-style interactions.

What is Gemini Spark?

Gemini Spark enables users to assign tasks that continue running in the background on Google's cloud infrastructure, even when their device is offline or locked.

According to Google, the feature is built around three components:

  • Tasks: Define the outcome users want to achieve.

  • Schedules: Automate recurring actions at specified times.

  • Skills: Enable Spark to perform actions across supported Google services.

Users can manage ongoing automations through a dedicated Tasks page within the Gemini app.

As per Google, Spark only performs actions within permissions granted by the user. According to the company, sensitive actions such as sending emails or making purchases require user confirmation before execution. Users can also choose which Google apps Spark is allowed to access.

Gemini Spark: Features available in India

The India rollout is powered by Gemini 3.6 Flash and integrates with several Google services, including:

  • Gmail

  • Calendar

  • Drive

  • Docs

  • Sheets

  • Slides

  • YouTube

  • Google Maps

Google says Spark can automatically organise travel plans by extracting information from booking emails, compile RSVP responses from Gmail into spreadsheets, and perform web-based research for assigned tasks.

Gemini Spark: Availability and pricing

Gemini Spark is currently available only to paid subscribers.

  • Google AI Ultra subscribers receive immediate access.

  • Google AI Pro users will receive the feature in the coming weeks.

In India, Google AI Pro is priced at ₹1,950 per month, while Google AI Ultra starts at ₹6,500 per month.

The rollout builds on Google's earlier Personal Intelligence capabilities by allowing Gemini not only to retrieve information from connected Google services but also to perform tasks using that information. It also comes as technology companies continue expanding AI agents capable of handling increasingly complex workflows across productivity applications.
