IIT Kharagpur has once again proven its mettle as one of India’s premier engineering institutions, smashing placement records during the 2024-25 season. In a year marked by global economic uncertainty and cautious hiring trends, the institute has received more than 1,800 job offers—including 409 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) and 25 international offers—demonstrating the enduring demand for its graduates among top recruiters worldwide.

The placement drive began on a high note, with over 800 offers made in the first two days and the tally crossing 1,000 by Day 3, signaling robust interest across industries. By mid-June, the total number of offers had surpassed 1,800, a remarkable feat given the challenging job market.

More than 400 companies participated in the ongoing placement drive, recruiting students for roles in software development, analytics, finance, consulting, core engineering, and high-frequency trading. Major global names such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Capital One, DE Shaw, Glean, Squarepoint Capital, and Mastercard were among the top recruiters, underscoring the institute’s appeal to industry leaders.

Professor Rajib Maity, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre, credited the achievement to teamwork and targeted student support, emphasizing the institute’s focus on readiness and resilience. “Our focus on readiness and resilience is helping graduates secure meaningful roles,” he said.

Director Professor Amit Patra highlighted the institute’s evolving curriculum and interdisciplinary focus, stating, “As technology evolves, we are updating our curriculum to stay ahead. Our interdisciplinary focus, strong alumni network, and real-world training help students become industry-ready leaders"

The record-breaking placement season is a testament to the institute’s academic excellence, strong industry partnerships, and the adaptability of its students. For graduates, these offers represent not just high salaries but also opportunities to work with leading global organizations on cutting-edge projects.
