New Leak Suggests iPhone 18 Pro Design Updates Are Coming

A new report claims Apple’s next iPhones will look much like the current models. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature only minor design changes when they launch in September, thanks to the strong success of the iPhone 17 series.

A new report suggests Apple’s upcoming iPhones will largely resemble the current models. When the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are revealed in September, the design updates are expected to be minor, due to the strong success of the iPhone 17 series.

The report originates from a Weibo leaker known as Fixed Focus Digital. “The leaker describes the iPhone 17 has having been enough of a hit for Apple to be celebrating with champagne. Then Fixed Focus Digital [says] that the iPhone 18 series will not change much,” Apple Insider reported.

The source further mentions that the A20 and A20 Pro processors anticipated for the iPhone 18 series will be crucial, or at the very least, the most crucial aspect of the update, according to the report.

Apple rarely makes major design changes year to year. The iPhone 17 Pro models were a notable exception, but typically the company makes only minor visual updates, especially following a big redesign. Even when the look stays similar, internal upgrades can still be significant—like vapor chamber cooling from the iPhone 17 Pro potentially coming to the regular iPhone 18. Rumors also suggest the standard iPhone 18 could launch in spring 2027, making any upgrades more meaningful.

Is Apple About to Ditch the Two-Tone iPhone Back?

Some rumors have indicated that the iPhone 17 Pro's two-tone back, a contentious design feature, might be eliminated. I'm uncertain about this. If the materials continue to be a combination of aluminum and glass, a color contrast between the two might be unavoidable. In such a scenario, I believe Apple would prefer to highlight these differences rather than conceal them. However, one aspect that is likely to change is the color options available.
