Meta has unveiled a new generative AI-powered tool in India that allows users to envision, create, and star in any setting imaginable, from the surface of Mars to a 1920s jazz lounge all with a few simple prompts. Launched as part of the tech giant’s broader push into consumer-facing AI experiences, the tool is now available for free use across India, one of Meta’s largest and fastest-growing user bases.
The feature is currently available through Meta AI integrations within Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, offering millions of users in India the ability to render high-quality images and short-form video clips of themselves in personalized, AI-generated environments.
The creative experience is driven by Meta’s proprietary and evolving Emu and Imagine AI models, which combine text-to-image, image-to-video, and face personalization algorithms into one unified platform. Users can describe a scene; for instance, "me surfing in space" or "me walking on the Great Wall at sunset" and the tool reconstructs them in the requested environment with remarkable realism.
India, home to over 500 million social media users, is a strategic choice for Meta’s global AI experimentation. By offering this new feature free of charge, Meta is:
Democratizing AI creativity tools
Empowering content creators with hyper-personalized media creation
Setting the stage for more immersive virtual experiences, potentially linking this tech with the metaverse and AR glasses
"This is the future of personalized content creation. You don’t need to be an influencer or a video editor anymore to create something amazing," said Vishal Shah, Meta’s VP of Product. "Our generative AI allows anyone to bring their imagination to life."
This creative AI rollout is just the beginning. Meta plans to expand this offering with longer video generation, voice integration for narrative control, and collaborative scenes featuring friend avatars. There are also strong indications that Meta may embed this experience into future versions of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, enabling real-time creative capture and storytelling.
