British consumer technology brand Nothing has announced that its highly anticipated flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone 3, will be manufactured locally at its Chennai facility. This landmark decision not only underlines the company’s deepening commitment to the Indian market but also signals a new chapter in the evolution of India’s electronics industry.

Set for a global unveiling at the “Come to Play” event on July 1, 2025, the Nothing Phone 3 is being touted as the company’s first true flagship device. The Chennai manufacturing plant, which employs over 500 people 95% of whom are women will be the birthplace of this premium smartphone. This move continues Nothing’s tradition of producing all its smartphones in India, including the Phone (1), Phone (2), and CMF models.

Akis Evangelidis, Co-Founder and India President at Nothing, emphasized, “India has been an important market for us ever since the very beginning of Nothing. Every one of our smartphones has been manufactured here and Phone (3) proudly joins that list. As we accelerate our growth here, we’re doubling down on our investment in local manufacturing, talent, and innovation fully aligned with the Make in India vision. Phone (3) marks a major milestone: our first true flagship, delivering the very best of Nothing. We can’t wait for our Indian users to experience it”.

Nothing’s manufacturing announcement is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its presence in India. The company has rapidly expanded its retail footprint from just 2,000 stores at the start of 2024 to an impressive 10,000 stores today. On the after-sales front, Nothing operates five exclusive service centers in major cities Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai alongside 20 priority desks and over 330 authorized service centers nationwide, with plans for further expansion. This extensive network ensures that Indian consumers receive timely support and a seamless ownership experience.

While official specifications remain under wraps until the July launch, leaks and teasers suggest the Phone 3 will sport a premium metal-and-glass design, a triple-camera setup, and a 6.77-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The device is expected to run on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or 8s Gen 4 chipset, with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. A 5,000mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging is also anticipated.

Notably, the iconic Glyph lighting system may be replaced by a custom dot-matrix display on the back, allowing for personalized animations and interactions; a bold step that reflects Nothing’s penchant for design innovation. The camera system is expected to feature a 50MP main sensor and a 32MP front camera, promising flagship-grade photography.
