The South Korean electronics giant launched its seventh-generation foldable lineup; comprising the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE on July 9, 2025. As per Samsung’s official statement, these pre-order numbers nearly match those seen for the flagship Galaxy S25 series earlier in the year, which had reached a record 4.3 lakh pre-orders but over a longer, three-week launch window.

The record-breaking pre-orders highlight Indian consumers’ readiness to adopt pioneering smartphone technologies. Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park remarked, “The record pre-orders for our Made-in-India foldable smartphones reinforce our belief that young Indian consumers are quick to adopt the latest technology.” He further emphasized that the success of the Fold7 and Flip7 series acts as a stepping stone toward making foldable smartphones mainstream in India.

Despite premium pricing, attractive pre-order offers such as free storage upgrades, benefits worth ₹12,000, and up to 24-months no-cost EMI have contributed to robust demand. Furthermore, the devices are manufactured in India, which may have also enhanced consumer interest due to the government’s push for local manufacturing.

India’s premium smartphone landscape is highly competitive. While Apple dominates the ultra-premium space, Samsung’s aggressive pricing and innovative feature set are helping it maintain a strong position. As per IDC’s Q1 2025 data, Samsung was India’s second-largest smartphone brand, with a 16.4% market share, trailing behind Vivo at 19.7%.

Samsung views the current momentum as a pivotal moment that could mainstream foldable smartphones in the country. The company continues to invest in making foldables more accessible, secure, and feature-rich, leveraging AI advancements and Knox-powered security.
