A tech professional has alleged that consulting major Deloitte withdrew his job offer shortly after he resigned from his previous company, following a failed background verification check.
Rajeev Anjana shared his experience in a video posted on Instagram, saying the development came as a shock after he had already completed his notice period. “It really hurts when you try your best, crack the Big 4, and finally get the offer, and then one morning you see this,” he said, while showing an email from Deloitte’s background investigation team. He added, “Honestly, it hurts even more than a breakup. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.”
In a follow-up video, Anjana claimed that he was not given a clear explanation for the failed verification. According to him, the HR team cited confidentiality when he sought clarification. He also alleged that he was told not to contact the HR team further and that he had been “blacklisted,” making him ineligible for future applications.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Anjana said he was informed that discrepancies in his previous employment records led to the decision. “I connected with the HR team, and they informed me that they are not moving forward with my employment due to discrepancies found in my previous experience. As a result, my offer has been revoked. Although I was given a joining date earlier, the offer was later withdrawn, and I have been informed that I am blacklisted,” he said.
The post has since gone viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions. Several users shared similar experiences with Big Four hiring processes, while others offered words of encouragement, saying setbacks in early career stages often lead to better opportunities later.
