Tesla Recalls Over 46,000 Cybertrucks Due to Safety Concerns

Tesla has announced a recall of more than 46,000 Cybertrucks due to a safety issue related to an exterior trim panel that may detach while driving. This recall affects all Cybertruck models manufactured between November 2023 and February 27, 2025.

The recall centers around a component known as the cant rail, a stainless-steel exterior trim panel located above the vehicle's windows. Tesla has indicated that this panel could "delaminate and separate from the vehicle," posing a potential risk to drivers and others on the road. If the cant rail detaches, it may create a road hazard, increasing the likelihood of accidents. Drivers may notice unusual noises inside the cabin or observe the panel coming loose before it detaches completely.

Tesla first became aware of this issue in January during routine monitoring of field repairs. Although the company has recorded approximately 151 warranty claims related to this problem, it is not aware of any associated collisions or injuries. Owners of affected Cybertrucks will receive notification letters by May 19, 2025, and can bring their vehicles to Tesla service centers for a complimentary replacement of the cant rail. The company is committed to addressing this issue promptly to ensure customer safety.

This recall represents one of the largest for the Cybertruck model, which has faced multiple challenges since its launch. The announcement comes at a time when Tesla's stock has seen a decline of nearly 50% this year, amid increasing competition and scrutiny over CEO Elon Musk's controversial political activities.
