Cantonment Court: Fake Aadhaar, Ration Cards Used for Bail; Seven Suspects Booked

Pune: The Wanawadi police have exposed a case of forged documents being submitted to secure bail for a habitual thief at the Cantonment Court. Seven individuals have been charged in connection with the crime. The police have confiscated counterfeit Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and other forged documents during their investigation.

The accused include Santosh Shankarrao Telang (32), a resident of Shewalwadi near the Gram Panchayat Office in Hadapsar. The complaint in this matter was filed by police constable Somnath Kamble at the Wanawadi police station.

Details of the Incident

The Cantonment Court has been temporarily relocated to Mahatma Phule Cultural Hall in Wanawadi. A known thief, Bachhansingh Jogindersingh Bhod, was apprehended by the Kondhwa police in connection with theft cases. Bhod has four prior cases registered against him.

To secure Bhod’s bail, Telang and his accomplices, through an advocate practicing at the Cantonment Court, submitted forged documents, including Aadhaar cards and ration cards. Upon verification, these documents were found to be fraudulent.

Discovery and Investigation

The police investigation revealed that the accused had prepared and submitted the fake documents to facilitate bail for Bhod. Telang was detained, and fake documents were recovered from the storage compartment of his two-wheeler.

The case is being investigated under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange, with Sub-Inspector Tone leading the inquiry.
