Pune, 3rd October 2025: A tragic event disrupted the Dussehra celebrations in Pune's Kothrud area when a son allegedly killed his father. The incident occurred around midday at the Paygude home in Jai Bhavani Nagar. The suspect, Sachin Tanaji Paygude, aged 33, is said to have had a heated argument with his father, Tanaji Paygude, which rapidly turned violent.
The disturbing crime, happening on such a significant day, has sparked widespread worry and distress among the local residents in Pune.
The conflict started with a simple, routine request. Tanaji Paygude asked his son, Sachin, who was watching TV in the attic, to switch off the television and put eye drops in his eyes. This seemingly insignificant issue quickly escalated into a heated argument between the two. The disagreement soon got out of hand, resulting in the tragic events that ensued.
In a furious outburst, Sachin Paygude hurried to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and viciously attacked his father. He repeatedly stabbed Tanaji Paygude in the face and throat with the blade. Tanaji Paygude suffered critical injuries from the attack and was declared dead at the location. The event deeply shocked the family and neighbors.
The Kothrud Police were quickly notified and swiftly reached the scene in Pune. After initial inquiries, they apprehended the suspect, Sachin Tanaji Paygude, and detained him. The victim's spouse, Suman Tanaji Paygude, lodged the official First Information Report (FIR), and a murder charge has been filed against Sachin.
