Pune, 23 July 2025: In a shocking case of domestic abuse and privacy violation, a senior government officer in Pune allegedly installed hidden spy cameras in his home to secretly record his wife while she was bathing. The woman, also a Class-2 officer, was blackmailed with the footage and pressured to bring ₹1.5 lakh from her parents' home to pay for a car and its EMIs.
The incident took place in the Ambegaon area of Pune. According to police sources, the couple got married in June 2020. However, within a few months, the husband grew suspicious and installed spy cameras at various locations in their home without the woman's knowledge. He later used the footage to threaten her and demand money.
When she refused to meet his demands, he verbally abused and assaulted her. Additionally, she faced continuous mental and physical harassment from her in-laws, including her mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
Unable to bear the abuse any longer, the woman approached the Ambegaon police station and filed a formal complaint. Based on her statement, a case has been registered against her husband and seven of his family members under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine, who is investigating the case, said, "Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the husband and seven of his family members under various sections. Further investigation in the matter is underway".
