Pune, 14 June 2025: Heavy rains that lashed the city on Thursday night and Friday evening led to widespread disruption, including the fall of 34 trees in various parts of the city. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in these incidents, according to the fire brigade.

The downpour began around 9 pm on Thursday and continued into the late hours, affecting the city centre and suburbs alike. Trees toppled onto roads in multiple areas such as Girija Vihar (Kothrud), Walvekarnagar (Satara Road), Phadke Haud Chowk, Narayan Peth, Baner, Koregaon Park, Hadapsar, and Gokhale Nagar.

After a brief respite, the rain resumed on Friday evening around 6 pm, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Within an hour and a half, heavy showers again led to waterlogging and more tree falls in Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, Samarthanagar (Vadgaon), B.T. Kawade Road, Ghorpade Peth, Market Yard, and Model Colony.

In some areas, large trees and branches blocked roads, but prompt action by the fire brigade ensured that the roads were cleared swiftly and traffic movement restored.
