Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Lok Bhawan on Wednesday and briefed him on alleged irregularities in the recruitment procedures of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), as well as the continuing student protests in Ranchi over these alleged violations, officials said.
During the meeting, Lok Bhavan officials stated that the Governor underscored the importance of transparency and fairness in examination procedures, as well as the need to preserve the trust of young people.
Governor cites ‘grave concern’
The governor described the reported irregularities as deeply troubling. He emphasized that the commissions must operate in a way that eliminates any doubt about their transparency and integrity, the Lok Bhavan said in a statement.
The chief minister affirmed that the state government is dedicated to securing justice for the students. He emphasized that the government would prevent any wrongdoing against the youth and take all necessary measures, the statement noted.
Government attempts to hold talks with students
Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar was also in attendance. Later, addressing reporters at the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister reiterated for the second day in a row that the government is willing to hold discussions with students demonstrating against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and pledged that their demands would be given serious consideration.
Several people have already been taken into custody and jailed, and investigative agencies are carrying out raids at numerous sites. Overall, the agencies are handling the matter with diligence and efficiency, and I am confident we are progressing toward a definitive outcome," the chief minister said, noting that he had informed the governor about the situation.
The government is open to all. Anyone with demands may come forward and express their concerns. We already have some understanding of the issues, and if they share their views, the government will definitely give them serious consideration. Similar developments are taking place in other states as well, but I do not see the kind of action there that is being taken here," he added.
