Pune: During investigation of Swargate MSRTC bus depot sexual assault case, crime branch sleuths have retrieved technical records from the last two years, revealing shocking details about Dattatray Gade’s criminal background. It has been discovered that he was frequently present at multiple high-traffic areas across Pune, including Swargate, Shivajinagar, Pune Station, Shirur, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur bus terminals.
Among these locations, Swargate was where Gade spent the most time, raising suspicions that he may have committed similar offenses in the past. Given this revelation, the Crime Branch has urged other potential victims to come forward and report any past incidents involving the accused.
The Swargate, Shivajinagar, and Pune Station areas are densely populated transport hubs with heavy commuter traffic round the clock. Investigators believe that Gade took advantage of the crowds to commit crimes without drawing attention.
Authorities have now initiated a detailed background check to uncover the extent of his criminal activities. Police are also analyzing CCTV footage, past complaints, and digital records to determine whether there are other victims who have not yet reported their experiences.
"We urge anyone who may have been a victim to step forward and file a complaint. Every lead will help ensure that justice is served and prevent further crimes," a Crime Branch official stated.
Pune Police had arrested Dattatraya Gade after an intensive 70-hour manhunt. Gade was found hiding in a sugarcane field in Shirur, from where he was taken into custody. The court has remanded him to police custody until March 12.
