Pune: A 1.5-year-old girl died and her 4-year-old brother was seriously injured when a tractor they were sitting on plunged into a well in Shindavane, Haveli Taluka.
The tragic incident occurred around 6 PM on Friday (November 29) near Mukhtar Farm, close to the Shindavane Railway Station.
According to the police, local farmer Dattatraya Mahadik was plowing his field with the tractor. After finishing the task, he parked the tractor near the well and left the keys in the ignition. Meanwhile, two children of laborers working at Mukhtar Farm climbed onto the tractor.
The children accidentally turned the ignition key, starting the tractor. The vehicle moved forward and fell directly into the well, with the children still on it.
Upon seeing the tractor fall, Mahadik rushed to the site and managed to rescue the children. Unfortunately, the 1.5-year-old girl, Aditi Sunil More, succumbed to her injuries.
Her brother, Aryan Sunil More, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Uruli Kanchan for further treatment.
The incident has been reported to the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
