Pune, 31 December 2025: A 10-member government-appointed inquiry committee probing the alleged illegal kidney transplant racket at Ruby Hall Clinic has submitted its 470-page report to Maharashtra Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The committee was headed by retired Bombay High Court judge Justice Sandeep Shinde. It was formed by the state government to investigate serious allegations related to an illegal kidney transplant at the private hospital. The probe began on October 3, 2024, and involved detailed examination and cross-examination of all individuals linked to the case.
According to the state health department, the panel recorded statements from surgeons who conducted the transplant, hospital staff involved in documentation, agents, the kidney donor and recipient, members of the State Authorisation Committee, officials from Sassoon General Hospital, and police officers from Pune Crime Branch Unit 2.
The committee also examined the original complainant from Sangli and officers from an earlier inquiry panel.
Officials said Justice Shinde and other committee members discussed the findings in detail with the health minister while submitting the report. Based on the inquiry, Minister Abitkar is expected to hold an independent review meeting next week to decide further action against those found responsible.
The government has not yet made the report public. Officials added that further steps will be taken only after a legal review of the committee’s findings.
