

Pune, 4th January 2026: A fugitive linked to the notorious Tipu Pathan gang in Hadapsar-Sayyednagar, who had been on the run following an operation under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), was found dead in an apparent suicide in the Lashkar area on Saturday night.
Before taking his own life, the individual left behind a detailed letter, in which he alleged harassment by a former corporator from Hadapsar and several others. The letter also included the names of those allegedly responsible for the distress. Authorities are investigating the contents of the note as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The individual who committed suicide has been identified as Sadiq Hussain Kapoor, aged 56, a resident of Sayyadnagar, Hadapsar. In this matter, late Saturday night, an unnatural death was recorded at the Lashkar Police Station. According to police sources, Sadiq Kapoor, who had an office in Kumar Palace Society, East Lashkar, was found hanged in his office on Saturday evening. Lashkar police arrived at the scene and immediately rushed Kapoor to Sassoon Hospital. Doctors confirmed he had died before treatment could be administered.
Pathan's Gang Under Scrutiny
Tipu Pathan’s reign of terror continues to plague the Sayyednagar area of Hadapsar, with multiple serious charges filed against him at the Wanwadi and Hadapsar police stations. Pathan had allegedly threatened a woman and forcibly seized her land, prompting her to file a formal complaint. In response, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar authorized action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against Pathan and 16 of his associates.
The crackdown resulted in the arrest and imprisonment of Pathan and his associates. Meanwhile, Shahrukh, alias Hatti, a fugitive member of Pathan’s gang, was killed in a police encounter in Limboti village, Mohol taluka. Sadiq Kapoor, another key member of the gang, also faced MCOCA action but had since gone into hiding following the police operation.
35-Page Suicide Note
Before taking his life, Sadiq Kapoor penned a detailed 30 to 35-page suicide note. Law enforcement authorities have seized the letter, which is said to contain critical information, including the names of a former corporator from Hadapsar and several other individuals. Investigators are now examining the contents for potential leads in connection with the ongoing probe.
