Pune, 27 March 2026: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has launched a focused initiative to increase the adoption of online ticketing and make daily commuting more tech-enabled for passengers.
As part of this effort, the transport body plans to boost downloads of its official ‘Aapli PMPML’ mobile application from the current 24 lakh users to 50 lakh.
To achieve this target, PMPML will roll out a special awareness campaign in April. The campaign will primarily focus on educating commuters about the app’s features and simplifying the download process.
QR code-enabled stickers will soon be displayed at major bus stops, inside buses, and on bus exteriors, allowing passengers to directly access the app download link by scanning the code.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance convenience for daily commuters. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets on their mobile phones while waiting for the bus, eliminating the need for cash transactions and reducing disputes over change with conductors.
Additionally, the app provides real-time bus tracking and schedule information, helping commuters plan their journeys more efficiently without needing assistance from depot staff.
With access to live bus locations, passengers can make informed decisions about waiting times and travel routes, making public transport more predictable and user-friendly.
“The ‘Aapli PMPML’ app is a highly useful tool for passengers. Currently, it has 24 lakh users, and increasing this number is essential. This campaign has been planned to achieve that goal,” said Mahesh Awhad, Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML.
