Pune, 10th September 2026: Heavy and oversized vehicles will be prohibited from using several major roads in central parts of the city from September 12 to September 26 during the Ganeshotsav festival.
The Pune Traffic Police have introduced the restrictions as large crowds are expected to gather in the city for shopping and to visit Ganeshotsav decorations. The move is aimed at preventing safety risks caused by heavy vehicles and ensuring smoother traffic movement.
The ban on heavy and oversized vehicles will remain in force 24 hours a day on the following road stretches:
Shastri Road: Senadatta Chowk to Alka Chowk
Tilak Road: Jedhe Chowk to Alka Chowk
Kumthekar Road: Shaniwar Peth to Alka Chowk
Laxmi Road: Sant Kabir Chowk to Alka Chowk
Kelkar Road: Futka Buruj to Alka Chowk
Bajirao Road: Puram Chowk to Gadgil Statue
Shivaji Road: Gadgil Statue to Jedhe Chowk
Karve Road: Nal Stop Chowk to Khandoji Baba Chowk
Fergusson College Road: Khandoji Baba Chowk to Veer Chaphekar Chowk
Jangli Maharaj Road: S.G. Barve Chowk to Khandoji Baba Chowk
Sinhagad Road: Rajaram Bridge to Savarkar Chowk
Ganesh Road/Mudaliar Road: Power House, Daruwala Chowk, Jijamata Chowk to Futka Buruj Chowk
The Pune Traffic Police have appealed to citizens and motorists to cooperate with the traffic changes during Ganeshotsav. The restrictions are intended to improve road safety, manage the increased movement of people and vehicles, and help the festival pass peacefully and smoothly.
