Speco MI-1 is designed to provide essential flight-related information such as departure timings, flight status, gate changes, delays, and baggage belt numbers. It can communicate in multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu, making it convenient for both domestic and international passengers.

The humanoid robot can independently move across the terminal and assist travellers who appear confused. It can walk alongside passengers and guide them to check-in counters, boarding gates, or baggage claim areas.

Additionally, it is equipped with features to monitor crowd situations and detect unusual movements during peak hours, adding a layer of operational support.

Videos of passengers interacting with the robot have surfaced on social media, drawing curiosity and positive reactions.

The trial will continue for the next two to three days. After a detailed assessment, airport authorities will send a proposal to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for necessary approvals and safety clearances before considering full-scale deployment.

Santosh Dhoke, Director of Pune Airport, said the robot is being tested to review planning, facilities, and security aspects. He added that the initiative, developed by a private group, is expected to benefit both passengers and airport administration if it receives approval for regular service.
