Pune, May 11: In a late-night crackdown, Faraskhana Police conducted a combing operation in Pune's Budhwar Peth area and detained five Bangladeshi women who were allegedly staying in India illegally.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the women had entered the country by illegally crossing the border without valid travel documents and had been residing in India unlawfully.

The operation was carried out between 1 am and 9 am on May 11 under the supervision of Senior Inspector Prashant Bhasme of Faraskhana Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence received by Sub-Inspector Arvind Shinde, police raided a premises known as “Machis Building” in Budhwar Peth, where the women were suspected to be staying.

During the raid, all five women were found at the location. On interrogation, they reportedly admitted to entering India illegally from Bangladesh without documentation. Police officials also said the women were engaged in prostitution in the Budhwar Peth area to earn a livelihood.

After confirming their Bangladeshi nationality, police took them into custody for further action. The operation was carried out by a team including Senior Inspector Prashant Bhasme, Sub-Inspectors Arvind Shinde and Sunil More, along with other police personnel.
