Pune, 4th September 2026: The Central Railway will undertake phased traffic blocks from September 19 to October 4 for the construction of the third railway line between Hadapsar and the Ghordpadi Coaching Maintenance Complex (GCMC).

From September 19 to 23, the Up and Down main lines between Pune and Hadapsar will remain blocked daily from 12 noon to 5 pm. From September 24, the duration of the blocks will be gradually reduced as the work progresses.

On October 3, traffic blocks will be imposed at Hadapsar Yard from 8 am to 12 noon and again from 12 noon to 4 pm.

October 4 will be the main workday. A traffic block will remain in place between Hadapsar and GCMC from midnight until 10.30 am, followed by another block from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm for signalling and telecommunications work.

The railway has planned several changes to train operations during the block period:

  • 42 trains will be cancelled, affecting 98 trips.

  • 25 trains will be diverted, affecting 36 trips.

  • 35 trains will be short-terminated or short-originated at stations other than their scheduled terminals, affecting 99 trips.

  • 22 trains will be regulated, affecting 71 trips.

  • 14 trains will be rescheduled, affecting 25 trips.

Services on routes including Pune–Solapur, Pune–Nagpur, Pune–Mumbai and Pune–Howrah are among those expected to be affected.

Passengers travelling during the block period will need to check the latest train schedules before leaving, as services may be cancelled, diverted, rescheduled or operated from different stations.

The third-line project is expected to increase railway capacity in the Pune division and improve the handling of train traffic in the future.
