Pune, 12th May 2026: A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) employee working in the water supply department was allegedly murdered over suspicion of an affair in the Ambegaon Pathar area of Katraj on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak Ashok Kshirsagar (38), a resident of Samarth Heights in Indrayaninagar, Ambegaon. Ambegaon Police have registered a case against Siddharth Sanjay Hature (26) and Hrishikesh Manohar Gaikwad (29), both residents of Jayashankar Society, Indrayaninagar. The two suspects have been taken into custody.

According to police, Kshirsagar had finished dinner and was taking a walk near the Indrayaninagar arch close to his residence around 9:15 pm when the accused allegedly approached him. Police said the attackers assaulted him with a sharp weapon after suspecting him of having an illicit relationship.

Kshirsagar suffered serious head injuries in the attack and died on the spot.

After receiving information about the incident, Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine and his team rushed to the scene and began an investigation. During preliminary inquiry, police found that the murder was likely motivated by personal suspicion related to an alleged affair.

The accused had fled after the incident, but police later detained both suspects for further investigation, officials said.
