Pune, 31st August 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, saying its politics is largely driven by the race for TRPs, while BJP workers are committed to Hindutva and the vision of a developed Maharashtra.
Speaking at the inauguration of the BJP Maharashtra state executive meeting in Pune, Chavan said Opposition parties would continue to view the government and the BJP through a lens of opposition.
“The Opposition is focused on winning the TRP battle, while BJP workers are committed to Hindutva,” Chavan said.
Chavan said the party has placed young workers in charge of 1,240 organisational mandals across Maharashtra. Training programs have also been conducted to develop effective speakers and strengthen communication among party workers.
He said nearly one lakh BJP workers have received training through digital platforms. Over the next year, the party plans to use various programs to take government schemes and initiatives to citizens.
Chavan said BJP workers must respond to what he described as anti-BJP 'fake narratives' being circulated through digital platforms, particularly in urban areas.
He stressed the need for workers to communicate the government’s work directly to citizens and ensure that the party’s position reaches the public.
Chavan also called for greater use of the BJP’s booth-level network to support the government’s efforts to make Maharashtra drug-free.
He said booth workers often have detailed information about activities in their local areas, including people involved in selling narcotics.
“Workers should pass the names of such people to the government. Strict action should be taken against drug dealers, including action under the MCOCA where applicable,” he said.
Chavan said BJP workers have a wider responsibility in deciding the direction in which Maharashtra and the country should move.
The state executive meeting was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, ministers Chandrakant Patil, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Girish Mahajan, Ashish Shelar, Pankaja Munde, Shivendraraje Bhosale and Nitesh Rane, among other BJP leaders.
