Arrested by Bharati Vidyapeeth Police for threats, extortion, and false complaints.
Suspension issued by PMPML pending internal inquiry.
Pune, 8th August 2025: A female conductor employed by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has been suspended following allegations of using a honeytrap to extort money and valuables from several men. The accused, identified as Surekha Baliram Bhalerao, is a permanent bus conductor (No. 6430) stationed at the Pune Station depot.
Reports suggest that Bhalerao is accused of enticing victims by pretending to form personal relationships, subsequently demanding money and luxury items. The individuals reportedly deceived include Rohit Sanjay Kadam, Manoj Sukne, and Bhagwan Ibite, from whom she allegedly extracted cash and valuables.
On September 17, the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police lodged a case against her after receiving a complaint that she threatened to accuse someone of rape falsely and demanded extortion money. It is also alleged that she filed a false complaint against one of the victims at the police station.
Given the gravity of the accusations, Bhalerao was taken into custody by the police, and the PMPML administration acknowledged the situation. Following the police's notification and the active investigation, the transport authority suspended her pending the outcome of the departmental inquiry.crime
The PMPML officials confirmed that the action was taken due to the “serious nature of the charges” involving misuse of position and personal misconduct.
