Pune, 14th September 2026: Pune Police have stepped up preventive measures ahead of Ganeshotsav to maintain law and order in the city. Orders have been issued against 701 habitual offenders with criminal records in the jurisdiction of seven police stations under Zone 2.
The restrictions prohibit the concerned individuals from entering or staying within the limits of the respective police stations. They have also been barred from participating in public Ganeshotsav events, processions and other public activities during the festival period.
The action covers Swargate, Sahakarnagar, Parvati, Market Yard, Bibwewadi, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Ambegaon police stations.
Police compiled records of people with previous involvement in serious offences and took preventive action to reduce the risk of incidents during the festival, when large crowds gather at major roads, junctions, Ganesh mandals and immersion procession routes.
Parvati police station recorded the highest number of preventive actions, with 115 people being served orders.

The police will maintain a special watch on major Ganesh mandals, crowded locations, procession routes, junctions and other sensitive areas during Ganeshotsav.
The preventive action covers people with records involving offences such as illegal weapon use, assault, causing injury, threats, property damage, theft, rioting, robbery and other serious crimes.
