When Shivansh did not return home for a long time, his family members and residents of the society began searching for him across the premises. During the search, residents suspected that the lift may have malfunctioned and informed the police and fire brigade around 11.30 pm.

A rescue team from the fire department, along with officers from Sinhagad Road Police Station, reached the spot and managed to open the stalled lift after considerable effort. However, the child was found unconscious inside the cabin.

Police suspect that Shivansh may have died after remaining trapped in the enclosed lift for a prolonged period. However, officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem report is received.
